- Shared ownership allows you to buy a percentage of a home (between 25% and 75%) while paying a subsidised rent on the rest. This lowers the deposit amount, making homeownership more accessible. Over time, if you want to, you can buy more shares in your home through a process called staircasing, and once you own 100%, the home becomes yours outright.
- Open market sale is ideal if you’re ready to buy your home outright, giving you full ownership with no rent to pay.
It’s worth noting that unless you’re purchasing a house from us (in which case you can buy the freehold when you own 100%), your home will be leasehold even when you own 100% or buy through open market sale.
