A range of new-build affordable homes near Maidstone have been handed over by housebuilder Bellway to housing association Golding Homes.
Bellway is delivering 421 new homes at Parsonage Place in Otham, including 126 affordable homes for local people through low-cost rent or shared ownership.
The first 69 of these were transferred to West Kent Housing Association between 2023 and 2024, while the remaining 57 properties – a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom houses – have now been built for Golding Homes and also handed over.
Kirstie Frith, Sales Manager for Bellway Kent, said: “We are proud of our ongoing commitment to the provision of affordable housing in Maidstone and have deliberately prioritised the construction of homes for affordable rent or shared ownership at Parsonage Place, where a third of the properties we are building are affordable.
“Providing a mix of homes is a key part of creating a vibrant and successful new neighbourhood, where people who may otherwise not have been able to afford to live here can either rent or buy a share in a high-quality new home.
“The affordable apartments we are delivering for Golding Homes will benefit from communal electric vehicle charging points while two of the apartment buildings will feature solar panels, serving 18 homes.
“Residents will also be able to enjoy the benefits of living in this attractive new development which includes a large expanse of public open space including footpaths, play areas and a central plaza.”
Jon Baldwin, Assistant Director of Development at Golding Homes said: “This is a wonderful development for local families which we’re delighted to work in partnership with Bellway to deliver. These affordable new homes are not only great to look at, they also have sustainability features that contribute to a cleaner, safer environment.
“As a leading housing provider in the southeast, we’re proud to help meet local housing need and contribute to vibrant, thriving communities.”
Construction work of the new homes at Parsonage Place is progressing well, with 146 of the private homes also completed.
There’s currently a choice of one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses available to reserve, with prices starting at £212,995.
