Whalley Manor in Lancashire wins Large Housing Development of the Year at the North West Residential Property Awards 2026

Whalley Manor, a flagship development in Whalley, Lancashire, has been named Large Housing Development of the Year at the North West Residential Property Awards 2026.

Insider’s annual awards celebrate the very best in the region’s residential property sector, recognising the organisations that design, develop, fund, build and manage homes and communities across the North West. Held in Manchester on 26th February and compered by Countdown presenter Colin Murray, the ceremony brought together industry leaders to honour projects demonstrating outstanding quality, innovation and impact.

Whalley Manor, delivered through a joint venture between L&Q and Lovell Homes, stood out in a highly competitive category. Judges praised the development for its approach to sustainability and technology, as well as its response to its rural surroundings.

Set within 10 acres of open public space, with thoughtfully designed play areas and more than 250 trees across 17 species, the scheme showcases a landscape-led design that complements and enhances the natural character of the Ribble Valley. Sustainability measures, including EV charging points installed as standard on all homes, alongside wider commitments such as diverting 99.7% of construction waste from landfill, further strengthened its award submission.

Backed by a strong track record of community engagement and investment, Whalley Manor exemplifies L&Q’s commitment to delivering high quality, future-focused homes that respond to both local need and environmental responsibility.

Claire Brenlund, Director of Sales at L&Q, comments: “We are delighted that Whalley Manor has been recognised as Large Housing Development of the Year at the North West Residential Property Awards 2026. This award reflects our commitment to delivering high quality homes that respect and enhance their surroundings, while embracing sustainability and innovation. Working in partnership with Lovell Homes, we have created a development that offers a diverse range of homes, generous green space and a strong sense of place for residents in the Ribble Valley.”

Located in the picturesque Ribble Valley, Whalley Manor offers a collection of two-, three-, four- and five-bedroom homes in a variety of layouts, catering to a wide range of buyers. Inspired by the historic village of Whalley, the homes feature stone or traditional render finishes, slate grey roofs and heritage brickwork, ensuring the development complements the character of the local area.

Just a 10-minute walk from the picturesque village of Whalley, the local area offers a selection of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs along with convenience stores. Ideal for buyers looking to start or grow a family, fantastic local nursery and schooling includes Whalley Meadows Forest School & Private Day Nursery, Whalley Church of England Primary School and Oakhill School & Nursery.

Despite its semi-rural location, Whalley Manor is very well connected. Major roads including A671 and A59 run close by, taking just 30-minutes to reach Preston and Blackburn and an hour to Blackpool and Manchester.

By combining considered design, environmental awareness and community focused planning, Whalley Manor has secured its place as one of the North West’s most celebrated residential developments of 2026, reinforcing L&Q’s reputation for delivering homes that support thriving, sustainable communities.
