Following the completion of its hugely popular Kiln View development at the new riverside community of Peters Village, near Wouldham in Kent, affordable homes specialist Orbit proudly announces the launch of a new collection of beautifully appointed homes. The prestigious enclave of stylish one, two and three bedroom apartments and houses will form Riverside Place, and will, as the name suggests, benefit from a picturesque location next to the River Medway
Peters Village is an idyllic place to live, with all the trappings of traditional village life, but offering a superb standard of modern living, local facilities, and excellent transport links to London and other major towns and cities, thanks to the newly opened Peters Bridge, which spans the River Medway.
Karen Holdsworth, who recently moved into an Orbit-built home at Kiln View, comments, “Peters Village is a hidden paradise! It is so refreshing to find a tranquil environment within such easy reach of everything you need for modern life. We’re surrounded by a nature reserve, and yet we are an easy drive to Chatham and Maidstone, and there is a train station with fast connections to London just a short walk away.
“We were delighted when we viewed the Orbit show home and discovered that buying a new build property doesn’t mean you have to compromise on space or quality. The house we chose was comfortably within our budget, yet offers everything we hoped for from our new home.”
Of particular interest to people struggling to get a foot hold on the property ladder; 22 homes at the development (a mix of two bedroom apartments and houses) will be eligible for purchase through the shared ownership scheme. This means that purchasers with an annual household income of less than £80k can buy a share of a property at Riverside Place, and pay a Government-subsidised rent on the remaining portion, while only having to find a deposit for the purchased share of the total sale price. However, this doesn’t mean that those benefiting from the scheme are stuck with paying rent forever, because an option known as staircasing allows buyers to increase their percentage stake in the property in the future, as their personal circumstances and household income allow.
There are 49 further apartments and houses at Riverside Place available with Help to Buy, which is a Government-backed equity scheme, whereby buyers of new build homes only need a 5% deposit, and the Government will lend them up to 20% of the purchase price, meaning they are just required to secure up to a 75% mortgage.
Final pricing was due to be confirmed as this article went to print, but as a guide, new homes at Riverside Place will cost from approximately £70,000 for a 40% share of a brand new apartment through shared ownership, or from £144,000 for outright purchase with Help to Buy.
As well as having access to a wide range of shops and services within easy reach in the nearby village of Wouldham and Snodland town, Peters Village will boast its own thriving village centre, with shops, health and community centres, leisure facilities and a new school.
Peters Village as a whole is set in a beautiful, natural landscape, which has been nurtured and protected as part of the development, against the backdrop of the North Downs, which is home to a wealth of wildlife, and adjacent to the tidal stretch of the River Medway as it meanders towards historic Rochester.
The Orbit marketing suite at Peters Village is open from Thursday to Monday, and more information about homes available at Riverside Place can be found at orbit.org.uk
