Buyers’ Guide – Research The Area

Research The Area

Check out crime statistics, transport links, regeneration and, if relevant, schools.

Top Tips for researching an area

  • Check online for prices of sold properties in the area, and make sure properties you like fit your budget. You can search for recent sold prices of properties on property portals like rightmove.couk / zoopla.co.uk.
  • Aerial shots of an area can be viewed at google.co.uk/maps
  • Consider if it’s safe and secure, look at crime rates.
  • Picture waking up one lazy morning and taking a short step to the local shops or a cosy café, or if you aren’t into lazy mornings is there a local park for your daily run? A vibrant neighbourhood means you have great amenities right on your doorstop.
  • Whether you already have little ones or you’re thinking about starting a family, having great schools nearby is a game changer, a quality education sets your kids up for a bright future.
  • Consider transport links, do you have easy access to trains, buses or maybe cycle lanes. Before you put in an offer, visit the street at different times of the day and night. Ultimately your daily life is shaped by the area and neighbourhood you choose. You want to find somewhere that makes you smile every time you return home.
